How to Be More Motivated

You probably want to be more motivated so that you can improve some areas of your life. 

It could be getting better sleep, eating better, being more physically active, or feeling less stress

Maybe you want to be more motivated so that you can lose weight, increase your confidence, or feel more in control.

And I'll bet that you already know "what to do" to make those changes. 

It's the old, "I know what to do, I just don't do it."

That is a symptom of low or inconsistent motivation.  

  • Have you struggled to get to bed consistently on time?
  • Have you been disappointed in your eating habits?
  • Have you suffered from yo-yo dieting?
  • Have you tried to work out regularly but can't seem to stick to it? 
  • Do you know that you need to relieve your stress but can't seem to find a way?  
  • Do you struggle to set boundaries and take on too much?

Why do we as humans NOT make those changes even though we really want to achieve our goals?

It can be soooooooo frustrating!!

I know WHY we humans exhibit this behavior.

We do it because the inner mind is not fully aligned with the outer mind.

And that often manifests as low or erratic motivation.

We WANT to do better but in the moment we don't have the will to do what we we're supposed to.

This is why we can feel so motivated and ready to eat better when we weigh ourselves in the morning but then fall prey to tempting junk food at night.

We just don't have the will.

And the reason that we don't have the will is that the mind is not fully on board.

What do I mean by that?

The root cause of your difficulty staying motivated or having enough willpower is that one part of your mind wants it but another part doesn't.

It's as simple as that.

And 9 times out of 10 it is your UNCONSCIOUS MIND that wants something else.

To have consistent motivation and willpower, you MUST include your unconscious mind.

  • It's not enough to intellectually desire something.
  • It's not enough to learn some good habit tricks.
  • It's not enough to "want it badly".
  • It's not enough to look in the mirror and feel embarrassed.
  • It's not enough to read books and get tons of information about the best ways to eat or exercise.
  • It's not enough to have an accountability partner.
  • It's not enough to shame and blame yourself.
  • It's not enough to feel disgust with yourself.
  • It's not enough to follow some fancy guru.
  • It's not even enough to get a scary diagnosis.

I'm sure you could list other things you have done to try to get yourself fully motivated for the long run.

As long as your unconscious mind is at odds with your goals, dreams, and desires, you will struggle with consistency, motivation, and willpower.
