“Challenge Always Brings Us Choice"

I know this may sound a little controversial but I am choosing to limit my time thinking about “reality”.

Every day, around mid-afternoon, I check in on the news from the CDC and WHO and I look at the number of cases from around the world to home. I always look at the trends in numbers: less cases? more cases? fatalities and hospitalizations increasing or decreasing? And so on.

But the rest of the day, I try to not think about all that stuff.

I avoid looking at all the doom and gloom predictions. I just want to know what is happening today.

Some may feel the need to focus on “reality” but I don’t.

That’s not to say I’m not concerned or I’m not taking precautions.

I am doing the exact same things I would do if I was super worried.

However, I’m doing those things in as close to a state of peace as I can muster.

I personally think that worrying, stressing, focusing on and talking about the hard, cold facts, imagining the worst-case scenarios, and generally being negative about this whole situation is NOT HELPING ANYONE.

We cannot control the outside circumstances, we can only control our thoughts and actions.

So….for me, that translates to doing the following things repeatedly throughout the day:

  • Being present
  • Focusing on what I DO have and what is good
  • Appreciating all of the beauty and love right in front of me
  • Thinking about what has worked, what is going well
  • Being present
  • Going outside to remind myself how exquisite nature is
  • Spending time with my dog and my family, just being with them, and appreciating the extra time we have together

I have realized that we cope the way we live.

If we live intentionally and with love and positive expectation then we are going to cope in the same way.

Yes, people can change.

And I suppose that’s the point.

This is an opportunity for all of us to rise closer to being the human beings we have always wanted to be.

I, for one, am always working on being more loving, more present, more compassionate, more understanding, more helpful, more passionate, more playful, and more healthy.

I am not going to change that just because the world is in crisis.

I just am not.

And I am inviting you to do the same.

Take this moment to step into your power. Take control of your thoughts and actions.

Be more of who you want to be.

Love, Jill

With love to each and every person in this entire world.
